Anatomy of a Symbol: From Word to Composition

= More info =

The city is a silent dialogue of symbols. Letters, in addition to conveying information, possess physical weight, rhythm, and emotional frequency. As part of the educational program of the Tbilisi Public Art Fund, a workshop will be held at Didube Public Schools No. 12 and 16, which will be dedicated to exploring the connection between text and image.

The workshop offers participants a journey into the deconstruction of the written word. Under the guidance of graphic designer and illustrator Nutsa Gabadze, students will learn about the expressive power of the "graphic gesture." They will observe the architecture of symbols, not as a technical tool, but as a form of expressing emotion.

During the process, participants will select text fragments and transform them into large-scale visual impressions. This is the practice of “silent communication”, where the sharpness of a line or the density of a form says more than the literal meaning of the word itself. The workshop will result in handmade, tactile works that reflect the intersection of the urban environment and the inner rhythm.

Workshop duration: 1 hour or 1:30

Age of participants: The workshop is designed for adolescents aged 13 to 18.

Number of participants: The workshop is designed for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20 students.

Nutsa Gabadze’s professional practice combines the fields of visual communication and digital art. Her creative approach is based on the synthesis of illustration, graphic design and modern technologies. Gabadze’s work is based on the interaction of image and text, which creates new forms of visual storytelling. The academic education received in the field of media and management determined her vision of art as a powerful tool for transmitting information. She actively uses modern technological capabilities (AI) to create visual forms that respond to today’s digital era.
