The guest editor of the Winter Season is urban planning specialist Gvantsa Nikolaishvili. The focus of her selected texts is City for Mothers. The opening text is the first chapter "The City of Mothers" from Leslie Kern's book “The Feminist City”.
"Through the selected texts, I aim to illustrate the everyday life of mothers in the city, highlighting the challenges and obstacles that fill their daily routines. For caregivers in general, and women in particular, public spaces and urban life are experienced differently compared to others, and their needs are often overlooked in the planning process. This became even more apparent to me after I became a mother, and these texts are, in part, a reflection of my own personal experience."
Gvantsa Nikolaishvili (1987) is an expert in urban planning. She earned her master's degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2023.
