Sunday Art Playground is one of the most vibrant and popular events within the fund’s public and educational program, held in various open public spaces across Tbilisi. A large canvas serves as a drawing surface for children and teenagers from the neighborhood, transforming the space into a communal hub for both locals and visitors. These drawing masterclasses are typically led by different art studios, not through conventional instructions, specific tasks, or lesson guidelines, but rather through a free and creative process inspired by the essence of a playground.
Drawing plays a crucial role in children's cognitive and emotional development, enhancing their imagination, improving motor skills, and sharpening spatial awareness. By bringing this creative process into public spaces, where children can sit on the drawing surface, it provides them with new physical experiences. This approach broadens their creative journey, emphasizing play and curiosity. Furthermore, collective and parallel drawing sessions foster a healthy understanding of public spaces—emphasizing the everyday importance of sharing, communication, and creativity.
